APA-2 Ascender
The Atlas Devices APA-2 system is the lightest most compact and powerful rope ascender in the world. Designed to meet a uniquely broad range of operational, environmental, and technical performance challenges that military operators experience, it delivers reliable performance in a critically minimal footprint for size, weight, and employability ruggedization.
The Goal of the project was to improve the design of the outer body of the ascender to decrease the heat transfer into the users hand. The design used an outer shroud around the main body to provide an air gap between the users hand and motor.
The top closure was also improved from a visual standpoint and added branding
